Gray Veredon - a New Zealand choreographer known in Łódź for ballet hits such as Wolfgang Amadeus, A Midsummer Night's Dream, or Promised Land - this time invites us to meet an exceptional character... Giacomo Casanova, a historical but also legendary figure. Casanova, with his personality, way of life, and unconventional approach to people and life, both scandalized and astonished. He was surrounded by myths and served as inspiration for many artists in various fields of art.

 

In October 1765, Casanova arrived from St. Petersburg to Warsaw. He was warmly welcomed by King Stanisław August Poniatowski. He also visited Lviv and Puławy. Casanova hoped to become the king's secretary, but after a duel in which he severely wounded the Grand Marshal of the Crown, Franciszek Ksawery Branicki (it was, of course, about a woman - this time the Italian dancer Teresa Casaci), he began to face serious threats to his life from Branicki's supporters. Ultimately, he fell out of favor with the king, who ordered him to leave the country in July 1766.
