ALMA ESPAÑOLA / SPANISH SOUL - New Year's Eve and New Year’s Concert
Almost 2800 kilometers separate Łódź from Madrid, and as Jerzy Połomski once sang, "(...) Spain is somewhere beyond the mountains, and here it's winter, the carnival is with us." Yet, to feel the charm of a Spanish fiesta, you don’t need to cross any mountains—just choose to spend New Year's Eve at the Grand Theatre in Łódź.

Alma Española, or Spanish Soul, will be the most festive musical event in the city, welcoming the New Year in elegant style. Among excerpts from famous operas set in Spain (*Carmen*, *The Barber of Seville*), there will be pieces inspired by Spanish folklore, especially traditional Spanish dances. Filled with fire and immersed in the punctuated rhythm of castanets, evoking the image of a virtuosic seguidilla, you will hear the famous *Intermedio* from Geronimo Giménez's zarzuela *The Wedding of Luis Alonso*, which is sure to captivate everyone.

The New Year's Eve concert *Spanish Soul* will feature not only classical works but also some surprising elements. After all, what could possibly link opera with the football clubs Real Madrid and FC Barcelona? To find out, all you need to do is join us at the Grand Theatre in Łódź during the final hours of 2024.

This carefully crafted program will be performed by soloists, as well as the artists of the Choir, Ballet, and Orchestra of the Grand Theatre in Łódź under the baton of Marcin Mirowski. Choose to spend your evening at the Grand Theatre in Łódź, and you're guaranteed to step into the New Year not only in grand style but also with a dance in your step!
