Rafał Pikała has been associated with the Grand Theatre in Łódź since the beginning of his artistic career, which dates back to 2004. He studied at the Music Academy in Łódź. In 2000, while still a student, he collaborated with the International Music Theatre Inc. in the USA (soloist contract). At the Grand Theatre in Łódź, he made his debut – still as a student – in 2002 in Verdi's Falstaff and Bellini's I puritani.
He possesses a bass voice of great beauty and distinctive tone, enabling the artist to perform a wide range of bass repertoire – from major bel canto roles to contemporary music pieces.
In addition to the roles already mentioned, Rafał Pikała's repertoire includes, among others:
Bizet's Carmen (Dancairo), Verdi's Aida (Pharaoh), Britten's The Little Sweep (Black Bob/Tom), Moniuszko's The Haunted Manor (Zbigniew), Verdi's La traviata (Dr. Grenvil), Moniuszko's Halka (Dziemba), Verdi's Rigoletto (Sparafucile), Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur (Quinault), Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia (Don Alfonso), Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (Bartolo, Gardener), Lehár's The Merry Widow (Kromow), Bernstein's Candide (Trainer, Inquisitor, Slave Dealer), Puccini's Tosca (Cesare Angelotti), Puccini's La bohème (Benoit, Colline), Verdi's Macbeth (Banquo), Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore (Dulcamara), Rossini's The Barber of Seville (Basilio).
The artist collaborates with opera houses and philharmonics in the country and is also a frequent guest on international opera stages and concert platforms.
In 2007, Rafał Pikała was honored with the Brylant Dziennik Łódzki award – given to promising young actors (working on stage for less than 5 years), awarded on the occasion of International Theatre Day.
