MONIKA CICHOCKA

MONIKA CICHOCKA

kategoria:
Sopranos
She graduated with honors from the Academy of Music in Wrocław, in the class of Prof. Danuta Paziukówna, as a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture and Art. She began her vocal career at the age of seventeen and participated in numerous masterclasses conducted by Adele Stolte, Birgit Nilsson, Helena Łazarska. She considers her collaboration with Marek Dyżewski exceptionally inspiring.

She is the laureate of International Vocal Competitions in Geneva and Toulouse (unanimous I Grand Prix). With passion, she sings both operas and symphonies, oratorios, cantatas, and vocal lyrics. She recorded a CD with W.A. Mozart's oratorios (with the participation of the Stuligrosz choir and the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra). She has performed in Poland, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, and Monte Carlo. She has appeared at many prestigious festivals, such as "Wratislavia Cantans," "Warsaw Autumn," "Tivoli Festival" in Copenhagen, the Opera Festival in Xanten, and her performance inaugurated the Cultural Olympiad in Barcelona.

The artist is proud of her collaboration with outstanding orchestras, including Orchestre Radio France, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Sinfonia Varsovia, and NOSPR. She particularly values artistic meetings with conductors such as Reynaldo Giovaninetti, John DeMain, Michel Plasson, Helmuth Rilling, Guido Johannes Rumstadt, Jacek Kaspszyk, Marco Balderi, Stefan Stuligrosz, Wojciech Michniewski, Antoni Wit, Tadeusz Kozłowski, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Michael Zilm, Yaacov Bergmann, and José María Florencio Junior. She partnered with Plácido Domingo, Teresa Żylis-Gara, Stefania Toczyska, Gwendolyn Bradley, and Kaludi Kaludov.

A significant success for the singer was her performance in Verdi's "Il Trovatore" (as Leonora), alongside the excellent Salvatore Licitra. Her repertoire includes roles such as Abigaille in "Nabucco," Aida in "Aida," Desdemona in "Otello," Amelia in "Un ballo in maschera," Leonora in "La forza del destino," Marguerite in "Faust," Mimi in "La Bohème," Cio-Cio-San in "Madama Butterfly," the title role in "Tosca," Tatiana in "Eugene Onegin," Liza in "The Queen of Spades," Nefertete in "Akhnaten," Nedda in "Pagliacci," Adriana in "Adriana Lecouvreur," Pamina in "The Magic Flute," and Elizabeth in "Don Carlos." She also appeared as Donna Anna in Mariusz Treliński's production of "Don Giovanni," conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk, and as Blanche and Mother Maria of the Incarnation in the famous Polish premiere of "Dialogues of the Carmelites," directed by Krzysztof Kelma, conducted by Tadeusz Kozłowski.

A spectacular success was the performance of E. Sikora's "L'Arrache-Coeur" at the National Opera (directed by Mariusz Treliński), where she played the leading role of Klementyna. Monika Cichocka willingly takes on exceptionally complex roles and has premiered many contemporary compositions (e.g., by Ph. Boessmans, Ph. Glass, E. Sikora). She has received numerous awards from the press and the audience (e.g., the Lower Silesian Press Award, the Lodz Journalists' Award). For her role as Aida in the Lodz production of Verdi's opera, she was honored with the Golden Mask. She successfully educates singers – vocal pedagogy is Monika Cichocka's great passion.

GOLDEN MASK for MONIKA CICHOCKA for the best vocal-acting performance in the 2005/2006 season in the performance of Aida.
In 2022, she was awarded the Bronze Medal "Meritorious for Culture - Gloria Artis."
