RIGOLETTO - an opera born of creative necessity

From the audience's perspective, I choose "La Traviata," but as a composer, "Rigoletto."

Already at its Venice premiere, Verdi discovered that the audience had embraced "Rigoletto." Although there was some surprise at the composer's new style, the grim fate of the court jester and his daughter Gilda touched the hearts of the spectators and their musical sensibilities. The opera is not short of hits, such as the famous aria of the Duke, "La donna è mobile," and Gilda's showcase piece, "Caro nome," but it's the characters straight out of Hugo's drama "Le roi s'amuse" - very human and very lifelike, burdened with problems and complex emotions - that captivated the audience.

And so it remains to this day despite the passage of years. "Rigoletto," alongside "La Traviata" and "Aida," is one of the most frequently performed works of the master from Busseto on opera stages worldwide. Always warmly received by music-loving enthusiasts and opera-goers expecting good theater - theatromaniacs.

On our stage, "Rigoletto" returns after years. Its previous productions, of which there were five in Łódź, always enjoyed success with the audience, also because this opera had the good fortune of exceptional performers. It will be no different this time! And with an Italian-Polish team of excellent creators, the chance to encounter true art is even closer!

A dissolute duke, a naive girl, a despairing father... The finale promises to be unforgettable!
