XXIV Lodz Ballet Festival

The Lodz Ballet Meetings took place in Lodz from May 3rd to June 20th, 2017, for the twenty-fourth time. Since the first edition in 1968, all the most significant ballet companies in the world have graced the stage of the Grand Theatre in Lodz, and the festival itself - thanks to the appropriate selection of repertoire and companies - has become a unique forum for the confrontation of the most valuable, current, and noteworthy aspects of ballet and dance theater.
The program of the XXIV Lodz Ballet Meetings was constructed to be a continuation of the festival's principles - the idea of openness to what is new and valuable in the art of dance while preserving the memory of the great ballet classics.
The management of the Grand Theatre in Lodz invited world-class dance companies to participate in the XXIV edition of the Lodz Ballet Meetings: English National Ballet from the United Kingdom (for the first time in Poland) with two performances: BALLET BOLD and LE CORSAIRE, the newly established Cuban company Acosta Danza (for the first time in Poland), and Akram Khan Company from the United Kingdom. For the first time in the festival's history, the audience had the opportunity to see a company from China - BeijingDance/LDTX from Beijing. Also, the company from Canada - RUBBERBANDance Group from Montreal - presented their work. Traditionally, the ballet company of the Grand Theatre in Lodz prepared its premiere for the festival - SPARTACUS by Aram Khachaturian, choreographed by Emil Wesołowski.
The Lodz Ballet Meetings are organized by the Grand Theatre in Lodz with funds from the Lodz Voivodeship Self-Government.
